The Esther Coalition, Inc. is a faith based advocacy and empowerment organization purposed to educate and empower families who love and care for children with severe disabilities. We are re-launching three new community wide initiatives for FY 2013 to 2020. We will provide advocacy and supportive services under the MemeBear Cares Initiative, Strengthening Young Mothers Initiative and Sista to Sista: Let’s Talk! Initiative. MeMeBear Cares will provide financial support and advocacy for families who love and care for a child or young adult with some range of Trisomy 18 (birth to 17 years old) throughout Michigan. Strengthening Young Mothers is a new initiative to create permanent supportive housing for single mothers and their child with severe multiple impairment to live in community with supportive services (i.e. coordinated health services, career development & training, transportation). Sista to Sista: Let’s Talk is a support group for single moms who are experiencing grief/loss from birthing a child with severe multiple impairments or the death of a child, loss of “normal lifestyle”, loss of relationships and/or loss of other aspects of life as a single mom.
To support the FY 2013 to 2020 Community Initiatives, we are accepting applications for a Capacity and Asset Building Intern, Event Planning and Fundraising Intern, Marketing and Public Relations Intern and Project Coordination Intern for the 2014-2015 Program Year. At this time, all these positions are unpaid but will receive performance perks. The position will start February 2nd and will conclude on May 5th; however, some flexibility will be allowed to accommodate school schedules.
